The state health minister has said that 'H3N2 is not fatal and that it can be cured through medical treatment.' He also added that the deaths were in Maharashtra were not because of the virus alone but because the patients had other diseases. In view of the rising influenza cases, schools in Tamil Nadu's Pondicherry will remain shut for 11 days. This will be in effect for classes 1-8.
