4:01Now PlayingMaharashtra's "kisan" marched on foot to Mumbai in protest at dropping onion prices. Around 3 PM today, CM Eknath Shinde will meet with farmers. On March 14, thousands of farmers continued their 175-kilometer foot march from Nashik to Mumbai to draw attention to their issues. As they began their "long march" to Mumbai on Monday, farmers from Ahmednagar, Dhule, and Palghar joined the 5,000 farmers who were primarily from the tribal area of the Nashik district. While hundreds of farmers march from Nashik to Mumbai in search of immediate assistance, the Maharashtra government will have talks with a group of farmers. The immediate financial relief of 600 rupees per quintal for onion growers, a continuous supply of energy for 12 hours, and the cancellation of agriculture loans are only a few of the demands made by farmers.
