2:31Now PlayingDefence Ministry has inked major deals for upgrading and modernizing Army giving push to self-reliant India. The government signed numerous deals on Thursday, increasing firepower for the Army, Navy, and Indian Air Force. Bharat Dynamics Limited agreed to furnish the Indian Army with two regiments of upgraded Akash air defence missile systems. The contract for the third and fourth regiments of the missile system has been inked with BDL and is expected to cost more than Rs 6000 crore, according to new agency ANI on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Defence Ministry signed an agreement with Indian shipyards to purchase 11 Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels and six Next Generation Missile Vessels for Rs 19,600 crore, according to an official release.
