The meeting took place a day after the CM visited farmers in Ahmadnagar and Dharashiv districts who were devastated by unseasonal rains. In an earlier letter to Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Pawar, the leader of the opposition in the legislative assembly, listed eight demands in response to the unusually heavy rains in March and April and urged them to announce aid that would be double the amount allowed by NDRF regulations. On the Western Railway section between Dahisar and Borivali, a technical issue with overhead wire had an impact on the Mumbai Suburban local.
