The Congress government announced its election promise of providing 200 units of free power monthly in Karnataka. The government has clarified that all consumers, irrespective of their financial status, will be eligible for the free power scheme, provided their monthly consumption does not exceed 200 units. "Those who consume 200 units of electricity will have to pay Rs. 2.89 paisa extra in June. The BJP has been quick to attack the new Congress government and Siddaramaiah for the jumps in power bills.
We are joined by a few panellists. "The rise of power tariffs happened in the BJP regime. The current electricity bill, which people are paying, is from last month," said Congress spokesperson Dhruv Jatti.
