The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) is set to hold its long-awaited elections on July 6, according to the returning officer. The announcement follows the appointment of a retired high court judge as the returning officer by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has assured wrestlers that relatives or associates of outgoing WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh will not be allowed to contest the polls. The elections will be closely watched as the wrestling body undergoes significant changes and addresses various challenges. Scrutiny of nominations will take place in late June, and the final list of candidates will be announced on July 2. The results will be declared on the same day as the elections.
