Old Car Not Bekaar | Campaign Against Government High Handedness | Force Used In Lifting Vehicles?

It is the second week of Mirror Now campaign 'Old Car Net Bekaar' and still no actions have been taken by Delhi government regarding the issue. Private vehicles are being lifted without any notice by the government to their owners. Vehicles are being lifted from outside people's homes and offices. These vehicles are being impounded by Delhi's transport department and taken to scrapyards. "If the car is simply parked and therefore not in use, you cannot just pick it up in any case because that is not something which is. What causes pollution is movement, and use. A point is if a person chooses to keep the car because there can be innumerable reasons to keep the car. I mean, you may want to sell the car but may not be getting the right price for the car. So you hold on to the car till you get the right price. You are waiting for a buyer. This kind of myopic policy, limited to a particular city, when the whole country is dealing with pollution, is bringing about a very weird situation where the same car which can't fly in Delhi can fly, say, in Haryana. Now, if the car can fly, and of course, there will be buyers willing to come to buy the car, I can keep my car and sell it. I have got the right to sell the car. You can't stop people from selling the car. It's my freedom of action. So as long as I'm holding on to the car to sell it to a buyer at a place where it can move, mainly because the car is parked, you cannot impound the car.", says Aman Lekhi.
