As a result, it is certain that the scheme's July 1 debut date will be postponed. Union Minister for Food and Consumer Affairs Piyush Goyal informed K.H. Muniyappa of the Centre's decision when he was in Delhi. Karnataka is responsible for food and civil supplies. The Congress administration plans to provide five kg of rice per person in addition to the five kg that the Centre now provides to BPL card-holding households, which is one of the five pre-election pledges it declared. The Food Corporation of India (FCI), which had earlier agreed to furnish the quantity, then reversed its position, prompting the State to hunt for alternative suppliers, which have now turned out to be expensive. We are joined by a few panelists expressing their views on this issue. "Food Corporation of India's decision to halt rice supply has given Congress a good political issue ahead of Lok Sabha Elections2024," stated Manu Aiyappa, Chief of Political Bureau, Times of India.
