Soon after its release, it has gained political attention as well. The opposition leaders have shown disapproval of the decision not to include venues from Rajasthan, Kerela, and Punjab. Congress’ Shashi Tharoor said, “There was no need to play 4-5 matches at a single venue when other venues could have got the chance to host 1-2 matches. This is a big mistake by the BCCI.” Also, Punjab Sports Minister, Gurmeet Singh said that “So many important matches are being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium and Punjab has been left out. This is nothing but politics.” The BJP leaders on the other hand dismissed such accusations and the BCCI Vice President, Rajeev Shukla clarified that “the decision is not entirely in our hands. The stadiums also have to meet with the ICC standards for approval.”
