17:38Now PlayingIn this episode of the Urban Debate, host Shreya Dhoundial will be highlighting the ongoing political turmoil in the state of Maharashtra after NCP’s Ajit Pawar was sworn in as the Deputy CM for the third time in 4 years. NCP supremo Sharad Pawar’s nephew Ajit Pawar switched sides to the Shinde-Fadnavis government along with 9 other MLAs, to become the deputy CM of Maharashtra and left the opposition MVA (Maha Vikas Aghadi) in great disarray. Now the situation stands in the hands of the Speaker of Maharashtra whether the disqualification of the MLAs is imminent. Out of the 53 NCP MLAs, Ajit Pawar will need the support of 36 MLAs to escape the anti-defection law.
To discuss the situation further, Ex-CM of Maharashtra, Congress Leader, Prithviraj Chavan, has joined Shreya Dhoundial. He said “The event is very unfortunate. This shows that the BJP are unsure of facing the 2024 Elections against the MVA (Maha Vikas Aghadi) without breaking the opposition parties. Their game plan worked against the Shiv Sena, now they are trying to break NCP like they did with opposition parties in other states of India using the ED against the MLAs.” Watch the full video to know more and follow Mirror Now for the latest updates.
