1:55Now PlayingBreaking News: The Supreme Court has asked for an answer from CBI over a request for bail from Anubrata Mondal, a leader of the Trinamool Congress. He was arrested for his involvement in a suspected cattle smuggling case. A panel of judges, including Justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M Trivedi, sent a notice to the CBI and asked them to respond to the request. In January, the Calcutta High Court had already turned down Mondal's request for bail. Mondal, who serves as the president of the Birbhum district for the TMC in West Bengal, asked to be released on bail, arguing that he has been held in custody for more than 145 days in relation to the case. However, the CBI objected to the request, stating that his release could interfere with their investigation into the cattle smuggling case by potentially influencing the witnesses they are examining.
