Mumbai, the heart and soul of the festival is filled with a magical atmosphere with elaborate decorations, colourful pandals, and larger-than-life idols of Lord Ganesha. Times Network brings you a ground report of two such Ganesha idols visited by millions of devotees from across. The GSB (Gowd Saraswat Brahman) Seva Mandal, was founded in 1951 on the fortunate occasion of Vijaya Dashami, and its 'Mahaganpati', is regarded as India's richest idol for its lavish way of decoration, which is adorned with 66.5 kilos of gold jewels, more than 295 kilograms of silver. Another such historically celebrated is the world-famous Ganapati, Lalbaughcha Raja which enters its 90th year, and the first Ganesh idol by Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal in Lalbaugh was incepted in 1934.
