13:54Now PlayingCiting a curb for pollution, the Transport Department of Delhi launched a scrap drive against aged petrol and diesel cars in March. Old cars belonging to citizens were being towed away and scrapped without a prior warning. Citizens, especially seniors, expressed great suffering from the drive. After the Mirror Now campaign ‘Old Car Not Bekaar’, public outrage, and the court’s intervention, the Transport Department has come up with a bizarre solution. As per the new proposed policy, the Transport Department has confirmed that vehicles would only be released if owners provide proof of a private parking space.
A panel of experts have joined Times Network for a detailed discussion. Activist, Rajeev Bhardwaj, said, “Car fitness tests should be conducted and if any car is in good fitness condition should be allowed on the road.”
