During his press briefing on Wednesday, Union Minister Anurag Thakur announced that the Union Cabinet has granted approval for a 4% rise in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for central government employees and pensioners. The allowance has been increased under the 7th Pay Commission of Central Government that has been implemented from the 1st of July this year. With this increase, the DA and DR will rise from 42% to 46%. The enhanced DA and DR will take effect from July 1, as stated by the Information & Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur during the press briefing following the Union Cabinet meeting.
