2:30Now PlayingDeadly Hurricane Otis made landfall in Mexico's Acapulco and caused widespread destruction and flooding. Otis, one of the strongest storms ever to hit Mexico's Pacific Coast, smashed buildings and vital infrastructure. Strong winds reaching speeds of 165 miles per hour led to massive damage and many hotels were wrecked by the storm. Footage on social media shows ceilings and walls ripped open, windows shattered and cars partly submerged in floodwaters. With very little warning to the residents, Otis struck Acapulco as one of the strongest hurricanes ever to hit the region. It is reportedly the first category 5 hurricane to make landfall in the East Pacific.
