27:17Now PlayingIn this episode of Daily Mirror with Shreya Dhoundial, we will be discussing, UAPA slapped Kashmiri students for hailing India's World Cup loss. Seven students from Sher-e-Kashmir University in Gandharbal were arrested under the UAPA Act for celebrating Pakistan's cricket win and allegedly intimidating non-local students supporting India. The draconian UAPA Act, typically for terrorists, permits arrests without a warrant and prolonged detentions without a charge sheet. The Students' Union appealed to drop charges, citing a threat to the student's future. Politicians, including Bhaibhuva Mufti, added a political dimension. Police defended the arrests, linking it to intimidation and normalizing anti-India sentiments. Senior Editor Swarajya Tushar Gupta agrees with J&K Police's action & puts emphasis on the union territory's 'dynamics'. Senior Advocate, Sanjay Hegde says, "Courts have to step in to stop this nonsense."
