Gogamedi was killed in his living room by three men on December 5, with the entire incident captured on CCTV cameras. The Rajput community staged protests and blocked roads in Jaipur, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. The murder coincided with the ongoing regime transition in Rajasthan as the BJP is set to form a new government after a significant victory in the state polls. Gogamedi, the founder of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, had split from Rajput Karni Sena in 2015. The accused, gangster Rohit Godara, associated with the Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility, alleging Gogamedi was collaborating with his rivals.
