3:47Now PlayingThe Vande Bharat Express, also known as Train 18, is the world’s first semi-high-speed passenger train on high-rise overhead electric (OHE) territory, and India's first indigenously designed & manufactured semi-high speed and self-propelled train set.
Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019, Vande Bharat Express has been designed to consume 30% less energy than Shatabdi Express trains and is currently operational on 34 routes.
On 18th Dec 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the second Vande Bharat Express train running between Varanasi and New Delhi.
