Four civilians were reported killed, and police have not yet recovered all the bodies. Curfew has been reimposed in the affected districts. Manipur CM N Biren Singh urged peace and assured strict action against the culprits. Increased police deployment follows the disturbances. Ethnic violence has gripped Manipur since a Tribal Solidarity March in May last year, with the Kuki tribe protesting against the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.
