The accused, a 24-year-old guy from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh named Eemani Naveen, desired to increase the number of followers on his Instagram account. When the video went popular on social media in November of last year, requests for social media rules came from a variety of quarters. Rashmika's face was altered in the deepfake video to resemble influencer Zara Patel, who lives in London. As of November 2023, the matter was being investigated.
