3:09Now PlayingWith the Maharashtra Reservation call has been going strong, Maharashtra Activist Jarange Patil will protest on the republic day where lakhs of people will march on the road. A division bench headed by Justice AS Gadkari, comprising Justices A. S. Chandak, took cognisance of AG Birendranath Saraf's statement that the state will take all possible steps to avoid any obstructions in the public roads which may lead to inconvenience to commuters. The bench was hearing a petition filed by advocate Gautam Sadavarte, who had requested the High Court to stay the entry of Jarange to Mumbai on the ground that it could lead to law and order issues as thousands of people are expected to congregate there. Over 1 lakh people have joined Jarange Patil's Maratha reservation rally in Mumbai. The rally has been organised by Jarange Patil to press for Maratha reservation in government jobs in education and government jobs. In a written reply to a court question, Saraf clarified that they had neither accepted nor denied any request to hold a sit-in at Azad mohalla as they had not received any such request. Saraf requested that they be given a venue outside of Mumbai to hold the sit-in. Saraf said that with so many people present, the situation might also spiral out of control for the chief.
