13:19Now PlayingTop News | Pakistan, which has been plagued by legal, political, and economic issues in recent years, started voting in its long-awaited general election on Thursday, February 8. With a first-past-the-post election system, 266 MPs will be chosen by Pakistan's 128 million registered voters to form the 16th Parliament. The legislatures of the four provinces in the nation—Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa—will also be chosen by popular vote. On election eve, two attacks on the political offices of independent candidates in the Balochistan province resulted in the deaths of at least 22 persons. We are joined by a few panelists expressing their views on this issue. "It's very clear that the election process in Pakistan is being controlled by the army. Rather than elections call it a selection process,' stated Veena Sikri, Former Ambassador.
