On Thursday evening, the city was placed under curfew. Police officers made up the bulk of those hurt in the violence that broke out following the destruction of the madrasa at Malik ka Bagicha in the Banbhoolpura area of the city. According to the statement, shoot-at-sight directives against rioters were also issued in the city in addition to the curfew that was implemented in Haldwani. It also stated that the chief minister advised officials to deal harshly with "anarchic elements" and urged everyone to remain composed.
