1:58Now PlayingIn a virtual ceremony on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the introduction of India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services in Mauritius and Sri Lanka, calling it a "special day" for the three brotherly nations that make up the Indian Ocean region. In a virtual ceremony that was attended by Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister Modi, and his colleague Pravind Jugnauth from Mauritius, the RuPay card services from India were also introduced there. Governors P Nandalal Weerasinghe of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Harvesh Seegolam of the Bank of Mauritius, and Shaktikanta Das of the Reserve Bank of India attended the event as well.
