The Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, will be tuition-free for all students thanks to a $1 billion donation from a former professor. 93-year-old Ruth Gottesman has been affiliated with the college for 55 years and is the chairperson of its board of trustees. Her gift to the institute is one of the largest charitable donations made to an educational institution in the United States and most likely the largest to a medical school. Gottesman credited her late husband, David “Sandy” Gottesman for leaving her with the financial means to make such a donation
