The Islamic State group said that its militants struck "a large gathering" on the outskirts of Moscow and "retreated to their bases safely" after taking credit for the attack. Attackers wearing camouflage outfits burst inside the structure, started shooting, and hurled incendiary bombs or grenades. Videos displayed black smoke and flames coming out of the hallway. In an attempt to extinguish the flames, three helicopters dropped water over the massive music hall, which has played host to renowned performers from across the world and can accommodate several thousand spectators.
