The notice was for about Rs 1,700 crore. This occurs only hours after its appeals contesting the tax reassessment procedures against it were denied by the Delhi High Court. The tax penalties and interest are associated with differences in the tax returns for the years 2017–18 and 2020–21. The Congress is already in financial trouble as a result of the Income Tax authorities freezing its finances and levying a Rs 210 crore fine.
