The Election Commission (EC) has imposed a 24-hour ban on former Calcutta High Court judge and BJP candidate Abhijit Ganguly from campaigning due to derogatory remarks made against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during a Lok Sabha election rally. The ban, effective from 5 pm on Tuesday to 5 pm on Wednesday, was enacted as his comments were deemed to violate the Model Code of Conduct.
