It automatically applies brakes and halts trains to avoid collisions and operates effectively in high-speed and foggy conditions. Indian Railways plans to implement Kavach across 10,000 km of railway lines, having already tendered 6,000 km and deployed it on 1,465 route km and 139 locomotives, focusing on major corridors like Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah.
