The delegation was led by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, and included former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Following the visit, China slammed the move and said “We are gravely concerned” and asked the US to honour the commitments the US has made to China. The visit from the US delegation came after US Congress passed the Resolve Tibet Act which strengthened US support for Tibet. Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian also asked the US to stop contact with the Dalai Group and stop sending wrong signals to the world. Further commenting on the US’ ‘Resolve Tibet Act’, Chinese FM spox reiterated China’s stance on Xizang province.
