In October 2023, Kozhikode was recognized in the 'Literature' category of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN)
State Local Self Government Department (LSGD) Minister, M B Rajesh, announced that Kozhikode had earned a place in the 'Literature' category of the UCCN.
