44:09Now PlayingIn this episode of Beyond The Headline, anchor Sneha Koshy discusses the latest developments, ground report, and the lapses by the authorities in handling the repercussions of the Landslides in Kerala, and argues whether it was a ‘natural’ disaster or a ‘man-made’ disaster. Kerala CM Vijayan described the Wayanad landslides as a "painful disaster," confirming that rescue operations are ongoing at full scale. So far, 144 bodies have been recovered, and 191 people are still missing. Efforts continue to evacuate and provide medical treatment to survivors. Union HM Amit Shah stated in the Rajya Sabha that early warnings were given to the Kerala govt about possible landslides. At least 185 people have died, 196 are injured, and 225 are reported missing. Authorities warn of potential further landslides in the region.
A panel of experts has joined Sneha Koshy to discuss this in detail. Exclusively speaking, Kerala Minister MB Rajesh says “There was no forecast, no prediction or warning of a high-intensity rain of this scale..” He also adds that this is no time for a 'blame game'.
