21:10Now PlayingIn this episode of Urban Debate, anchor Shreya Dhoundial discusses how St. Stephen’s College informed the Delhi High Court on Wednesday that admitting students under Delhi University's single girl child quota violates the right to equality. Senior advocate Romy Chako argued that the quota also contradicts Article 30 of the Constitution, which protects minority rights to manage educational institutions. The High Court is hearing the case after six students challenged the college's decision to put on hold the admission of 22 students, 12 of whom were allotted seats under the new quota.
A panel of experts has joined Shreya Dhoundial to discuss this in detail. Prof RK Pandey, Kirori Mal College says “I am unable to understand the social cause behind this quota..” Also, Academician Tanvir Aeijaz hails DU’s single girl child quota.
