Anil had called his daughters, Malaika and Amrita, saying he was "sick and tired." His ex-wife, Joyce Polycarp, found him after noticing his slippers and hearing the watchman’s cries for help. The film fraternity and Malaika's family, including her ex-husband Arbaaz Khan and other relatives, gathered to offer condolences. Anil's body has been sent for postmortem.
