3:01Now PlayingTyphoon Wipha made landfall on Sunday evening along the coast of Taishan city in southern China’s Guangdong province, state-run CCTV reported. The storm had earlier lashed Hong Kong, causing major flight disruptions across the region. Wipha weakened to a severe tropical storm shortly after landfall around 5:55 pm, with maximum wind speeds reaching 30 metres per second, according to the report.
