Aug 9, 202511:54:56Now PlayingThe Senate will tackle on Wednesday afternoon the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte in light of the July 25 Supreme Court ruling that it was unconstitutional.
Despite the ruling, Impeachment proponents have not quite given up on the prospect of putting the vice president on trial.
Last Monday, the House filed, through the Office of the Solicitor General, a motion for reconsideration to the high court, which then gave Duterte 10 days to comment on the motion. Meanwhile, The 1Sambayan Coalition, a civil society group led by retired Supreme Court justices Antonio Carpio and Conchita Carpio-Morales, has filed a consolidated motion to the Supreme Court asking it to issue a status quo ante order, which would bar the Senate from junking the impeachment complaint against Duterte.
