PARIS PROTESTS: Yellow Vests Revive Movement With Loud Anti-Macron Demonstrations

Demonstrators marched through Paris on Saturday to mark seven years since the launch of the Yellow Vests movement, reviving anger over living costs and economic inequality. Protesters in high-visibility vests chanted anti-Macron slogans and accused financial elites of controlling national policy. Longtime figure Jerome Rodrigues said the movement failed to remove President Emmanuel Macron but helped awaken political awareness among thousands. Another protester, Josiane, said the system — not just Macron — remains the core problem, arguing that capitalism and concentrated wealth drive inequality. Protesters also called for deeper reforms, including a public finance audit and a referendum mechanism to remove presidents who fail to deliver. The Yellow Vests began in 2018 over proposed fuel-tax hikes and have since symbolised broader frustration with rising costs and government policy.
