Torrential rains triggered widespread flash flooding and mud flows across Southern California on Wednesday. Authorities warned motorists to avoid travel and urged residents in flood-prone areas to either evacuate or remain in place. In Wrightwood, a rain-soaked mountain resort east of Los Angeles, emergency crews responded to dozens of rescue calls throughout the day. Firefighters pulled drivers from submerged vehicles, according to San Bernardino County Fire Department spokesperson Christopher Prater.
