Sabarimala has come under scrutiny again after the Kerala High Court ordered a vigilance probe into the alleged misappropriation of funds from the sale of ‘aadiya sishtam ghee’, following an earlier gold scam controversy. Acting on a report by the Sabarimala special commissioner, the court noted financial irregularities between November 2025 and January 2026, estimating losses at around Rs 35 lakh. The probe will examine unremitted sale proceeds of ghee packets sold to devotees, with the vigilance director asked to form a special team, register a crime, and submit a progress report within a month.
