The International Criminal Court has issued a stark warning over the rapidly deteriorating situation in Sudan’s Darfur region. Addressing the UN Security Council, ICC Deputy Prosecutor Nazhat Shameem Khan said Darfuris are facing collective torture, with reports of rape, executions, mass graves and arbitrary detentions following the fall of El Fasher to the RSF. She warned that war crimes are being repeated across Darfur with impunity. Sudan’s envoy accused a foreign state of backing the militia, as Egypt and the UN push for a humanitarian truce.
