The vessel, carrying 61,000 tons of liquefied natural gas, went down between Libya and Malta. All 30 crew members were rescued and transferred to a ship heading to Benghazi. Russia blamed Ukrainian sea drones for the blast, calling it a “terrorist attack” affecting global energy markets. Ukraine gave no immediate response. The tanker was reportedly part of Russia’s sanctioned “shadow fleet” used to bypass Western restrictions. Egypt denied the ship was heading to its ports.
