5:36Now PlayingThousands of students rallied in Berlin on Thursday against the German government's plans to reintroduce military service, protesting what they say would place the burden of militarisation on young people. Footage shows protesters gathered at Potsdamer Platz square, marching and chanting slogans. Placards and banners read, 'The rich want war, the youth want future,' 'Hands off our children,' and 'Too young for weapons'. Police estimated around 3,000 people took part in the demonstration in the capital while organisers claimed about 6,000 protested. Roughly 50,000 joined anti-war and anti-conscription protests in more than 130 towns and cities across Germany, according to reports.
