As per US media reports, a major defence cooperation partnership may have been inked between Washington and Indonesia, following talks involving US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth. On paper, the deal reportedly focuses on maritime security, joint training and capacity building. But in practice, analysts say, it places the United States and its partners in a position of unprecedented visibility over one of the most sensitive arteries of the global economy, which some reports say, is bigger than the Hormuz itself in terms of the volume of traffic - the Strait of Malacca.
