5:58Now PlayingUkrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday said his diplomats were working with the European Union to unblock the €90 billion loan package for the country, which had been vetoed by Hungary's outgoing Prime Minister Viktor Orban earlier this year.
"The relevant decisions must be prepared on the support package for Ukraine, on opening clusters, and on sanctions against Russia," Zelenskyy said. Peter Magyar defeated Orban in this month's election - after allegations of EU and Ukrainian interference from the outgoing government and US Vice President JD Vance. Zelenskyy himself was even accused of threatening Orban's life - saying he would send his troops the former PM's 'address' - over the loan row. Both Hungary and Slovakia were also engulfed in a long-running row with Ukraine over the Druzhba pipeline from Russia - which they claimed was blocked for 'political reasons' and which Kyiv claimed was damaged in a 'Russian strike'. EU countries are expected to convene on Wednesday to consider the loan again.
