3:22Now PlayingArmenians took part in a torchlight procession in Yerevan on Thursday night - with some seen burning the Turkish flag - to commemorate the 111th anniversary of the 'Armenian Genocide' - a term disputed by Turkey - during World War 1. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reportedly condemned the flag-burning, describing it as provocative and tension-inducing behaviour.
Footage shows thousands walking from Republic Square to the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex, carrying a huge Armenian flag and holding lit torches and candles. The European Parliament declared April 24 as the 'Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Armenian Massacres in the Ottoman Empire'.
