3:35Now PlayingAmid the escalating tensions between Israel and Lebanon, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called an urgent meeting of the security cabinet along with officers. The Israeli side sat down to assess the situation in northern Israel after Hezbollah launched a barrage of rockets and drones in the region.
According to reports, Netanyahu scheduled the emergency security assessment with Defence Minister Israel Katz, army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and army chiefs in the north. “The Israeli army was surprised by the scale of the rocket fire and Hezbollah’s decision to change its fire policy in response to the expansion of the Israeli army’s ground operations in southern Lebanon,” the Israeli news outlet said. In the midst of all the chaos, Israel’s National Security Minister Ben-Gvir publicly and repeatedly called to “flatten” Beirut’s Dahieh. “We need to go after the Dahieh, flatten it, flatten it, and flatten it again. Dear Prime Minister Netanyahu, I love you, but it is time to flatten the Dahieh,” the Israeli minister told the media after Hezbollah attacks.
