Mexico reached the knockout stage after winning its opening four matches of the tournament and had yet to concede a goal in three World Cup games at the Azteca, where El Tri is aiming to reach the quarterfinals for the first time since the country hosted the tournament in 1986. England advanced to the last 16 after defeating Congo 2-1 and is seeking a third consecutive World Cup quarterfinal appearance.
