3:18Now PlayingFrance marked Bastille Day with a military parade that extended beyond national celebrations, showcasing European unity and support for Ukraine. Troops and aircraft from several European countries joined the parade in Paris alongside French forces. President Emmanuel Macron hosted around 30 world leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in a display of continued backing for Kyiv and Europe's commitment to strengthening its collective defence. The celebrations coincided with severe heatwaves and widespread wildfires across France, forcing the cancellation of fireworks and traditional festivities in several regions. Bastille Day commemorates the Storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789, a defining event of the French Revolution.
