The collapse blocked the tunnel entrance and triggered a suspected methane gas leak, severely complicating rescue efforts. Teams from the NDRF, SDRF, Fire Services, police, and a specialized rescue unit from West Bengal are working with gas-protective equipment to reach those trapped nearly three kilometers inside the tunnel. Heavy rains, poor visibility, and hazardous gas conditions continue to hamper operations as authorities race against time to rescue the remaining workers.
