The hearing follows the release of more than 1,100 pages of Fauci’s personal diary entries from 2019 to 2022 by Committee Chairman Sen. Rand Paul, who argues the journals raise questions about Fauci’s public statements on the origins of COVID-19, the Wuhan lab-leak theory, gain-of-function research, the federal pandemic response and internal decision-making. Fauci has rejected allegations that he misled Congress and maintains that his diary entries are consistent with his public testimony.
